The Challenge
A manufacturing client in Metro Detroit was experiencing frequent network outages disrupting production lines. Their aging infrastructure — an unsegmented flat network with deteriorating cabling from the late 2000s — couldn’t support the density of connected devices on the floor, and there was no visibility into what was causing the failures.
What N2M Delivered
N2M completed a full network assessment, documented the existing environment, and designed a modern replacement. New structured cabling (Cat6A throughout) was installed during a planned weekend shutdown to avoid production impact. A new switching architecture with proper VLAN segmentation was deployed, separating production equipment from corporate workstations and guest traffic.
Managed IT services and 24/7 monitoring were brought online at the same time, giving the client full visibility into their environment for the first time.
The Result
Network-related production downtime dropped to zero in the six months following the engagement. The client now has a documented, managed infrastructure and a single point of contact for all IT issues.
